Carson, CA (April
23, 2008)
-- Intusoft announced today the release of its ICAP/4 8.x.11 Build 3247
SPICE-simulation tool suite for analog, mixed-signal and mixed-system
design. Enhancements have been added to the 11th-generation software from
its former Build 3090, running on Windows Vista and 64-bit operating systems.
The "x" in 8.x.11 deciphers Intusoft's scalable solutions, which
extend up to its premiere ICAP/4 Professional and Test Designer products.
New Features
ICAP/4 Build 3247 features enhanced piecewise-linear (PWL) waveform creation
capability by way of mouse or file input. As alternative to typing in
several time and value data points to create a PWL signal, a graph (grid)
can be clicked on to arbitrarily place data points using the mouse. Once
complete, the waveform can be modified by clicking anywhere on the graph
to make the waveform conform to newly selected points. Further, a bounding
box can be drawn around any portion of the waveform and dropped to a new
area on the graph, as the waveform takes on a new shape. Alternatively,
the selected portion can be deleted. PWL waveforms can also be instantly
created through a text file of data points, quickly performed by dialog
entry. Build 3247's new automated component conversion capability enables
generic devices, and many real parts, placed on ICAP/4's SpiceNet schematics
to be instantly converted to similar real devices. Such components are
conveniently categorized by description and part number in a dialog viewed
by clicking the targeted device on the schematic. The timesaving feature
accommodates a wide variety of resistors, diodes, capacitors, inductors,
BJTs, JFETs and MOSFETs. By merely pressing a "replace" button
the targeted part is instantly replaced with the new device for circuit
simulation. More on new features can be found at: http://www.intusoft.com/lit/8x11build3247Flyer.htm
Software Refined:
Intusoft noted that Build 3247 experienced the fewest bugs in the history
of the company during its testing cycle. Tim Ghazaleh, director of marketing
commented, "Build 3247 though not having as many new features as
its predecessor, focused on refining the software for optimal operation,
strengthening key existing features, and adding two new powerful capabilities
requested by the customer base." New simulation models were also
added to the software, totaling more than 23,600 devices for board-level
and IC/ASIC simulation.
Product Backgrounder:
ICAP/4 8.x.11 Build 3247 is a fully integrated design simulation tool
suite consisting of design entry and library management tools; analog
and mixed-signal simulation; full-featured design debug and verification
capability; fault synthesis; and automated export to the Bartels AutoEngineer®
PCB system. The scalable product line starts at $995 US, with all product
offerings based on Intusoft's IsSpice4, 4th-generation SPICE technology.
ICAP/4 is built on significantly enhanced SPICE 3F5 and XSPICE. Depending
on the offering, features include a full scripting language to optionally
modify or create special simulation and waveform-processing functions;
schematic-less device parametric variation; 30 SMPS schematic templates;
dedicated power-electronic and RF simulation libraries; magnetic design
& synthesis option; fully integrated waveform viewer and signal processor
that includes random cross-probing to schematic; pole/zero and 2-port
analyses; circuit optimization; Smith & Nyquist charts; automated
assignment and charting of electrical measurements including out-of-limit
alarms; IBIS2SPICE converter through version 3.2; optional automated test
diagnosis; and a configurable design and debug windows environment.
